Footwork

Footwork is a technique of working on the feet, developed by Avi Grinberg within the methodology of the same name, which derives from the union of holistic reflexology and bodylearning, the body’s ability to learn through body attention and experience. It is important to emphasize that when we talk about Footwork and Holistic Reflexology in the context of the Grinberg Method, we are referring to a learning process. In fact, body attention combined with touch techniques on the feet can affect the whole body and allow the person to learn; as a result, the body can regain its natural and innate ability to heal, rest and recover energy to improve well-being and health.

Footwork is a non-invasive yet powerful learning technique that teaches through a process of paying attention to the body. It is suitable for:

  • Anyone suffering from a chronic pain condition. In our personal and professional experience, Footwork represents one of the most effective techniques for transforming pain
  • Those who suffer from chronic ailments that do not require medical treatment but nevertheless reduce quality of life; for example, chronic constipation, allergies, migraines and insomnia, to name a few. These ailments don’t kill, they make you sick. Most people have several ailments like these that appear all the time; Footwork is a way to get rid of them
  • People live under stress, constantly experiencing worry and fatigue, conditions that are usually not even considered physical conditions. Footwork is very effective, as an increase in physicality, which is often what these people lack
  • People going through a difficult time, which may involve grief, loss, or bouts of anxiety or fear. Using Footwork to bring attention to the body will allow them to move through their experience with greater ease. We have used Footwork immediately after surgery, after an accident, and in many other intense situations with excellent results for quick and accurate recovery
  • Children and Seniors. Practicing Footwork with seniors will improve their vitality and well-being. Children simply love it, letting the body work for them is easy and natural
  • People who are in therapy for depression problems, anxiety panic attacks, restlessness, etc. Many times the physicality they learn through Footwork is exactly what their attention and physique needs.
  • people who want to improve their attention, including those who practice yoga, meditation, martial arts, dance, music, etc. Footwork is a pathway to body awareness. It is a way to learn how to shift attention and expand it to the entire body and surrounding space
  • Students, executives, artists and anyone else who wants to improve clarity and the ability to
    thinking, qualities that are gained when our bodies are balanced. Receiving a session once a week, just as some people receive regular massage, can greatly improve the ability to concentrate and other cognitive faculties
  • People who want to follow an ongoing process to prevent burnout, exhaustion and other harmful physical conditions. Instead of receiving treatment, clients learn tools that can be applied in daily life, which are useful in times of crisis and to ward off stress buildup

Footwork is taught during the first year of Beyourbody Academy’s three-year Grinberg Method training. It has become an online course that offers the essential concepts and techniques developed by Avi Grinberg in his 40 years of research and teaching practice through the body.

It is neither a medical nor psychological therapy and does not replace any kind of treatment or cure; in some cases it can work in parallel as a support.
