Stopping – the magic of the moment
When we don’t pay attention, we don’t perceive that there is the magic of the moment around us, to perceive it we need to stop.
Sometimes we may experience life as an ongoing sequence of irrelevant happenings that seem to lead nowhere. We may have the sensation to run in a hamster wheel, trying to escape what frightens us and aiming for an uncertain safe heaven. And the less we manage, the more we run…
To step out of the hamster wheel we need to stop escaping and running after aims. We need to stop movements, thoughts and emotions. We need to stop being busy with the past and with the future. We need to find a way to stay in the moment. If we manage to do so, we’ll suddenly realize the huge amount of options that we have. We’ll look around and see with wonder how full of details our surrounding is. We may experience how painfully precious this single moment is, because our heart knows that it won’t repeat any more. And we may realize, that all our injuries from the past, and all our fears about the future are no more than a paranoid fiction in our mind that distracts us from the beauty of being alive – and hinder us to take relevant action, if needed.
